Bridle Trails Projects
In the last NEP cycle in 2018, Bridle Trails residents selected three capital improvement projects: construction of a sidewalk along a section of Northeast 40th Street; safety improvements to the intersection by Cherry Crest Elementary School and an array of improvements to Cherry Crest Mini Park.
NE 40th Street Sidewalk
This project will construct a sidewalk with a planter strip (where feasible) on the north side of Northeast 40th Street from 140th Avenue Northeast to 145th Avenue Northeast, filling in a missing gap. Retaining walls will be constructed where needed. In conjunction with the sidewalk project, bike lanes will be added along the NE 40th Street corridor. NE 40th Street will be grinded and overlayed between 140th Avenue Northeast and 148th Avenue Northeast. Other elements of this project include ADA-compliant curb ramps, a marked pedestrian crosswalk at 142nd Place Northeast, and storm drainage improvements. This project is made possible with NEP funds for which the neighborhood voted in 2018, along with funds from the Transportation Department’s Neighborhood Sidewalk Program, Neighborhood Safety and Connectivity Levy, Pavement Preservation Program, and Traffic Operations Program.
More information is available in the Project update mailer (June 2024) and on the Transportation Levy Sidewalk, Trails and Paths webpage.
Estimated Project Completion: Spring/Summer 2025
