This project aims to improve safety for people walking at two locations in the city. This project is federally funded. The estimated cost for both locations is $650,000.
116th Avenue NE
This project will install a new crosswalk, flashing beacon and median island on 116 Avenue NE between NE 20 Street and NE 21 Street. Construction is anticipated to start in Winter 2024 and be completed by Summer 2024. There may be a break in construction between installation of the flashing beacon and median island and paving.
What to expect
- Construction: Construction will start early February.
- Work hours: Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-4 p.m.
- Traffic impact: Lane closures with flaggers directing traffic. Bike lanes will be closed during construction.
- Access for people walking and rolling will be maintained at all times, although people on bicycles will need to use the road as the bike lanes will be closed during construction. Access to businesses will be retained.
145th Place SE
This project will upgrade three crosswalks and install flashing beacons on 145 Place SE. They are on 145 Place SE north of SE 13 Place, north of 144 Avenue SE and south of SE 22 Street.
