The Transportation Commission advises the City Council on transportation-related issues. Members are responsible for studies, analyses and reports required by the Traffic Standards Code or requested by the council.
Commissioners review and make recommendations to the council on topics such as:
- Transportation Facilities Plan (preparation, progress, implementation)
- Changes to the Traffic Standard Code
- Long- and short-range funding programs for transportation facilities
- Short-term planning studies and implementation programs
- Bikeway/pedestrian planning and implementation programs
- Capital Investment Program and Transportation Improvement Program project prioritization
- Long-range planning, including work with the Planning Commission, to amend the Comprehensive Plan and subarea plans.
The executive secretary for the commission is Kevin McDonald, a principal planner in the Transportation Department.
Meetings
The Transportation Commission meets on the second Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. For details on how to access the meetings, check the Transportation Commission meeting agenda for the specific meeting you wish to attend. An additional monthly meeting may be needed if the commission's workload warrants it, in which case it will be held on the fourth Thursday of the month. In-person meetings are held in City Hall conference room 1E-113.
Transportation Commission meetings are conducted in a hybrid manner with both in-person (Room 1E-113) and virtual options. To speak at the meeting, you may attend the upcoming meeting.

Members
The Transportation Commission is comprised of seven Bellevue residents who are appointed by the mayor with the concurrence of the City Council. The terms are four years and expire on May 31 the last year of the term. No one can serve more than two consecutive terms, provided a person appointed to fill an unexpired term of two years or less is eligible to serve two successive four-year terms.
Councilmember Jared Nieuwenhuis is council liaison to the Transportation Commission.
- Chair, Karen Stash (Term expires 05/31/2027): Karen Stash is serving on the Transportation Committee because she believes that transportation is such a critical part of the health and happiness of Bellevue. She enjoys working on multi-faceted projects that have technical as well as logistical challenges and understands how the complexity of these issues increases as the city grows. She sees the need to balance the requirements of all Bellevue residents, understanding that as key to the commission's success. Her engineering, technology, and management background helps her understand and address these challenges. Further, she has been a walker, driver, and biker in Bellevue for over 20 years and wants to keep Bellevue a desirable place to live for many more years to come.
- Vice-Chair, Drew Magill (Term expires 05/31/2028): Drew Magill joined the Transportation Commission in 2023, serving as Vice Chair since May of 2024. In 2022, after retiring from a 33-year career at Boeing, he completed the Bellevue Essentials program. Drew’s focus is on helping Bellevue continue to thrive well into the future. He is particularly passionate about transportation: creating an efficient, connected system - one based on best practices and using local innovations to support the City’s growth. Drew was also Board Chair of Hopelink, served on the board of the King County Economic Development Commission, and was a founding board member and board chair of Leadership Eastside. Drew has a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the University of Washington, an MBA from Seattle University and is currently pursuing his Masters in Finance. He is an avid triathlete, competing internationally as a member of Team USA. Drew and his wife, Kari, live in Enatai. They have two grown sons and a golden retriever.
- Member, Susanna Keilman (Term expires 05/31/2028): Susanna Keilman’s desire to serve on the Transportation Commission stems from her military service as a United States Air Force medic. Through her global travels and two overseas deployments, she has seen firsthand how transportation infrastructure impacts the demise or success of humanity. Susanna has 24 years of experience working in healthcare and biotechnology to expand treatment reach and improve patient outcomes. She sits on the Policy Council for the City of Bellevue’s Chamber of Commerce, is a board member of the Asia Pacific Cultural Center (Tacoma, WA), and is a Programs committee member of the Seattle Chapter of Women in Bioscience. She holds a master’s degree in international relations/political science and an MBA in healthcare administration. Her mother is a first-generation Korean immigrant and her father a WWII and Korean War veteran.

- Member, Nik Rebhuhn (Term expires 05/31/2028): A Washington native, Nik Rebhuhn was raised on a small farm in Issaquah (now Sammamish). He is a proud Washington State University graduate and has lived and worked in Bellevue for the last 27 years. Throughout his life, Nik has had a strong focus on serving in his community. Some of his favorite past volunteer work includes fostering animals for Seattle Humane, serving as President of Eastgate Elementary PTA, coaching softball for Bellevue National Little League, and being a Big Brother for Big Brothers of King County. His first little brother in the program is now 40 years old and they are still great friends!
- Member, Albert Ting (Term expires 05/31/2027): Albert Ting joined the Transportation Commission in 2019. He was born in the pacific northwest and moved to Bellevue in 1978. He has watched Bellevue grow from a small town to a vibrant and active city. After working in the software industry, he decided to learn about city issues and community service, participating in Bellevue Essentials and learning about boards and commissions. His focus is making a Bellevue a great place to live for everyone, using a data driven approach. He has volunteered with Team Survivor Northwest, a women's cancer survivor group, providing coaching in their dragon boat program. He has also worked with Bellevue residents to discuss city wide issues. He currently resides in the West Lake Sammamish neighborhood with his wife and two daughters and enjoys visiting Bellevue's extensive park and trail system.
