In the June edition of It’s Your City, an insert about local fireworks displays included information about permitted fireworks events scheduled for Wednesday, July 4. However, some of those events are private and not open to the public. This clarification is being issued to inform residents where they can attend a free public fireworks display.
Everyone is invited to celebrate Independence Day at the following locations on the 4th of July:
- Bellevue Downtown Park, 27th annual Bellevue Family 4th
- Lake Boren Park in Newcastle, Fourth on the Lake
Community members are encouraged to attend one of the many free public fireworks displays in the region and refrain from lighting their own backyard displays. The penalty for illegal use of fireworks in the city has increased this year from $100 to $1,000 (news release).
