When the state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) closes the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 at the West Seattle Bridge starting Friday evening for pavement repairs, the impact will likely be felt on the Eastside. The full closure of northbound I-5, part of WSDOT’s Revive I-5 project, along with numerous ramp closures, begins at 8 p.m. Friday, June 1, and lasts until 5 a.m. Monday, June 4. During the closure period, people on the Eastside should expect these impacts:
- Heavy congestion on northbound I-405 as people seek alternate routes due to the I-5 closure.
- Congestion on westbound Interstate 90 as traffic backs up on I-5, north of closure area.
- The southbound I-405 ramps to northbound I-5 will be closed.
