NEWCASTLE – The Bellevue Fire Department Wednesday responded to two fires at the same residence on the 7900 block of 129th Place Southeast in Newcastle.
The first fire was reported shortly after noon and was quickly extinguished. Per standard procedure, crews remained on scene with a thermal imaging camera and confirmed the fire was completely out before leaving the scene to a King County fire investigator at 4:30 p.m.
Just before 11:30 p.m., emergency dispatchers received reports of a second fire at the residence. Fire crews arrived on the scene to find the home fully engulfed in flames. Due to structural instability, the fire was attacked defensively, with crews remaining on scene overnight.
As of Thursday afternoon, it was not clear whether the second fire was an extension of the first or a separate occurrence. Investigations of the fires by King County are ongoing.
