The Bellevue Police and Fire departments are asking for residents and visitors to stay safe this Fourth of July. Community members are encouraged to attend one of the many free public fireworks displays in the region and to refrain from lighting their own backyard displays. The penalty for illegal use of fireworks in the city has increased this year from $100 to $1,000.
Police and firefighters will conduct fireworks safety and fine enforcement patrols throughout the city leading up to and on Wednesday, July 4. All types of fireworks are banned including large bottle rockets, roman candles, firecrackers and sparklers. The use of fireworks has been illegal in Bellevue since 1994, except for permitted displays.
There are a couple of public events on the Eastside.
- The 27th annual Bellevue Family 4th at Downtown Park
- Newcastle's Fourth on the Lake at Lake Boren Park
Residents and business are also encouraged to help by hosting a free, reminder lawn sign on their property or sending a reminder to neighbors. For more information, please reach out to the Fire Department at fire_prevention@BellevueWA.gov or 425-452-6837.
