The second annual Spirit of Bellevue 12K Run, 5K Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run and Health & Wellness Fair is coming up on Sunday. Proceeds will go toward scholarships for college-bound students.
The event offers a scenic 12-kilometer (7.46 miles) route for runners and a 5K (3.1 miles) run/walk route for the whole family. Both courses begin and end in Bellevue Downtown Park. The Health & Wellness Fair at the park will show what local companies and event sponsors have to offer for a healthy lifestyle.
The Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, the Bellevue Chamber Foundation and Washington Federal are cosponsoring the Spirit of Bellevue Run. Registration opens at 7 a.m. The 12K race begins at 8 and the 5K race begins at 8:15. The Community Health & Fitness Fair runs from 8:30 to noon.
Between 7:30 and 10 a.m,, the course will be closed to vehicular traffic, as shown in the map. Key arterials that will be closed in one direction include segments of Lake Washington Boulevard, Northeast Eighth Street, 100th Avenue Northeast, Northeast 24th Street, 112th Avenue Northeast, Northeast 12th Street, 124th Avenue Northeast, Main Street and Northeast Second Street.
In addition to the closed roadways, traffic on intersecting streets and in surrounding neighborhoods will be significantly impacted by the event. Please plan accordingly, and schedule trips to avoid conflicts with the event.
Shopping hours will not begin at the mall until 11a.m. Free parking on the day of the race is available in the southwest parking garage of Bellevue Square.
