People traveling in Bellevue should be aware of weekend lane closures on Bellevue Way Southeast and ramp closures on Interstate 90 to and from southbound Bellevue Way as part of Sound Transit’s East Link light rail construction July 8-9. The closures will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday and end by 9 p.m., Sunday. Details are contained in the Sound Transit's July 5 construction alert.
This weekend, Bellevue Way Southeast will be reduced to one northbound lane and access to I-90 will be prohibited. The eastbound I-90 ramp to Bellevue Way Southeast will also be closed. Westbound I-90 to northbound Bellevue Way Southeast will be maintained.
Weekday lane closures on Bellevue Way Southeast will occur the week of July 10-14.
According to Sound Transit, these weekend closures are necessary for utility work. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.
Sound Transit's contractor expects regular weekend closures to continue into the fall. Sound Transit's contractor is planning a full closure of Bellevue Way next weekend, July 15-16. During that closure, all ramps to/from Bellevue Way Southeast and I-90 will be closed, and only local resident and emergency access will be maintained. At this time, weekend closures to Bellevue Way Southeast are not anticipated for the weekends of July 22-23, July 29-30 and Aug. 5-6.
Commuters are encouraged to plan for alternate routes and are asked not to drive through neighborhoods to reach their destination.
