Sound Transit’s contractor will close three lanes on Bellevue Way Southeast from Saturday, Sept. 23, at 5:30 a.m. through 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 24. Bellevue Way will be reduced to one northbound lane and access to Interstate 90 will be prohibited.
The eastbound I-90 ramp to Bellevue Way will also be closed. Westbound I-90 to northbound Bellevue Way will be maintained. Closures are needed to continue utility work. Details and map are contained in Sound Transit’s Sept. 20 Construction Alert.
Upcoming closures during the weekends of Sept. 30-Oct. 1, Oct. 7-8 and Oct. 14-15 are expected to be similar to this weekend's closure.
Commuters are asked not to drive through neighborhoods to reach their destination. Drivers can detour to I-90 and I-405 via 112th Avenue Southeast and Southeast 8th.
NOTE: Beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept 23, a private contractor will close 112th Avenue SE between SE 8th and SE 6th. This is not East Link related work, however Sound Transit’s contractor will use the full closure to complete water line work on 112th.
Ongoing construction activities associated with the South Bellevue East Link segment include:
- sidewalk closures and detours on Bellevue Way Southeast and 112th Avenue Southeast;
- lane reductions on 112th Avenue Southeast;
- closure of Southeast 15th Street at 112th Avenue;
- Winters House and Blueberry Farm closures; and
- new temporary lot for Mercer Slough Park users.
