Sound Transit’s contractor will close three lanes on Bellevue Way Southeast 5:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, through 9 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 22. Bellevue Way will be reduced to one northbound lane and access to Interstate 90 will be prohibited.
The eastbound I-90 ramp to Bellevue Way will also be closed. Westbound I-90 to northbound Bellevue Way will be maintained. Closures are needed to continue utility work. Details and map are contained in Sound Transit’s Oct. 18 Construction Alert.
This closure will be repeated during the weekend of Oct. 28-29. A full closure of Bellevue Way Southeast and all ramps between I-90 and Bellevue Way Southeast is expected during the weekend of Nov. 4-5.
As part of construction activities, tree and vegetation understory removal will begin as early as the week of Oct. 23. Removal will be within the work zone along Bellevue Way Southeast between the East Link station site and 112th Avenue Southeast.
Additionally, starting Tuesday, Oct. 24 through Friday, Oct. 26 night work (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.) will occur between the ramp to I-90 and the I-90 roadway. A shoulder and lane closure on westbound I-90 is required. Expect minimal noise. Work is to pour pole foundations between I-90 and the Bellevue Way Southeast westbound on-ramp.
Commuters are asked not to drive through neighborhoods to reach their destination. Drivers can detour to I-90 and I-405 via 112th Avenue Southeast and Southeast Eighth Street.
